Every summer I would go visit her and we would make these scrumptious things from scratch. If you’re wondering how to make corn dogs, it’s really not that hard. You make a stiff cornbread batter. Then you stick a stick into a hot dog, dip it in the batter and fry it. There’s really no reason to wait for the state fair or your local amusement part to enjoy this crunchy treat. It’s really pretty easy to make them right in your own kitchen. All it takes is a good recipe and a little practice.

There are actually quite a few junk food recipes out there that allow you to make anything from funnel cake and corn  dogs to hot dog stir fry right at home. We call these types of food florescent foods at our house. While we don’t make them very often because they aren’t exactly healthy, they are a nice treat enjoyed in moderation.  Hey, sometimes you just have to give in to that craving for a good corn dog. And when I fix them at home I can at least buy a good quality hot dog and control what goes into the batter and what kind of oil I fry it in.
