What to do with all of those holiday leftovers? I had the Thanksgiving holiday meal at our home and when we were all in the kitchen cleaning up it was pretty comical trying to put the leftovers away since we couldn’t find the right covers to fit the different plastic containers in the cabinets. Plus some of the family wanted to bring some leftovers home, so we were forcing covers to fit or using aluminum foil and plastic wrap instead. Obviously it’s time I bought some real food storage containers but instead of plastic I’m going to buy glass food storage containers for my home.

The beauty of using glass for food storage is that the containers won’t become stained from sauces and other messy dishes. Plus the glass can go in the microwave for reheating foods. You can also store the food in the fridge or freezer and then wash the empty containers in the dishwasher when you’re done and they’ll still look as good as new. If it’s time for some new cool kitchen tools in your home, you might want to treat yourself to a set of these versatile glass containers too.

There are a lot of wonderful recipes available for making your own homemade bread. If you’ve ever had fresh, homemade bread hot from the oven, you’ll know there’s nothing quite as delicious as the taste of it. The great thing about making your own breads is that you can adjust the recipe anyway you like to your own personal likes and tastes. You can even choose to make it the same day as you need it and make as many loaves as you need for the occasion. If you have a bread maker, you can even set the the timer so that you wake to hot bread for breakfast. You can easily make fresh bread in the oven if you have a good bread pan to bake it in.

When it comes to kitchenware, there’s a great variety of specialty bakeware that can make your cooking projects. For baking bread, you’ll find everything from large and mini bread loaf pans make of nonstick stainless steel as well as French bread pans, round bread pans, and a selection of traditional bread baking pans made from materials including steel and clay. So start simple with the pan you’ll use most often and then you can add more as your budget and kitchen space allows.

Do you buy too many bananas on purpose just to let them ripen so you can make Banana Muffins for your family? Most kids love bananas and anything you can make with them. Bread and muffins made with ripe bananas are nice and moist and sweet, but these muffins are particularly tasty due to a little different ingredient. These muffins are made with yogurt or buttermilk which gives a nice “perky” flavor. I like to add a handful of chopped pecans, but if your family isn’t a real fan of nuts, you can leave them out. But, because these muffins are so moist, a little crunch added makes them a little heartier, too.

Having a few inexpensive fruit recipes on hand helps our family stop the wasteful habit of throwing out fruit that has been sitting a little too long. Most every fruit can be used in some sort of recipe after it’s seen better days. If you’ve got a banana or two that no one will eat, the best thing to do is grab a muffin or bread recipe, mash up those bananas, and start mixing.

Have you ever felt like you’ve run out of dessert ideas or have become bored with making the same pies, cakes, and cookies? That’s how I feel sometimes. At the holidays I bake a lot of pies like pumpkin spice, pecan, cherry, apple – a lot of our family favorites. And then of course it’s also time to bake cookies – oatmeal chocolate chip, sugar cookies shaped like Christmas trees, and the ever popular gingerbread cookies. But this year I was really looking to make something different. Not that I would completely forget about our sentimental favorites. It’s just that we had a few special gatherings planned and I wanted to try making something new & festive looking. Then I came across these perfect Mini Springform Pans and I knew exactly what to bake.

These adorable pans are just perfect for making some delicious mini-cheesecakes, which look amazing when you serve them on the dessert table. You can also make rich mini chocolate mousse cakes, or just about any of your favorites, adjusting the recipes to suit the size of the pans. They’re made by Kaiser Bakeware, known for their quality baking tools and I just love them!
